Seeding Rate Trials Data (Kenya)
Research
This dataset is from seeding rate trials from 4 locations in Kenya in 2018 and 2019 long-rains seasons.
On-farm trials were conducted during the 2018 and 2019 long rain seasons in six different sites (three on each season). A randomized complete block design was employed, where each farmer’s field was considered as a block. The number of farmers per site ranged from 190 to 250 (total N = 1347). Treatments differed each season. In 2018, an early maturing maize variety (SC Duma43) was grown at 4 seeding rates. In 2019, we used a factorial (2 factors) design where farmers had a combination of 4 seeding rates and 2 varieties (total of 8 treatments per farmer). Seeding rates in 2019 were the same as in 2018, and varieties were SC Duma43 and P 3812W (mid-maturity).
