What is a donor-advised fund?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account, typically located at a brokerage firm or community foundation. It allows charitably-inclined individuals, families and businesses to make upfront, tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock and in some cases, certain illiquid assets, to a DAF sponsor, which then typically allows you as the donor to direct funds over time to the charities of your choosing, such as One Acre Fund.
