About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. We provide quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural trainings to improve harvests. We measure our success by our ability to make farmers more prosperous: On average, farmers harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

We are growing quickly. We currently serve more than 800,000 farm families in Eastern and Southern Africa, with more than 7,500 full-time staff, and we aim to serve 1 million farm families by 2020.

Job Description

The Tree Operations Specialist will report directly to Rwanda Tree Lead. They will also seek guidance from the Extension and Innovations departments. The Tree Operations Specialist will support all of Rwanda Tree related operations including production, procurement and systems.

Specific responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Advise our tree production operations on driving up efficiency and effectiveness by innovating cost-saving initiatives
  • Work with the Procurement team to use forecasting to increase timeliness and efficiency, reduce procurement cycle times, and reduce unit costs through better economies of scale
  • Support tree distribution operations that include development of detailed project plans and coordination across multiple departments to ensure smooth execution
  • Support performance management systems of more than 1000 temporary staff working on our nurseries
  • Oversee controls and fraud prevention activities
  • Strengthen quality assurance and inventory management processes
  • Innovate new ways to increase staff safety at the workplace/nurseries

Qualifications

We are seeking an exceptional professional with a minimum 2 years of work experience and ideally a demonstrated passion for our mission.  Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • 2+ years of work experience
  • Project management: Design and implement complex projects to success
  • Growth mindset: Enthusiasm for learning, feedback and improvement
  • Results-oriented: You set goals and take ownership of driving towards them
  • Cross-cultural fluency: You will collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong educational background; minimum Bachelor's Degree
  • Willingness to travel to rural locations, and to be based in Kigali, Rwanda
  • Language: Fluency in English is required, Kinyarwanda speakers are encouraged to apply
