Leadership

One Acre Fund advocates for smallholder farmers to be put front and center of global decisions. In our work we collaborate with farmers to develop solutions that help them build their resilience.
Over 2 billion people rely on smallholder farms for food and income. Putting farmers at the center of global dialogue is critical to identifying effective solutions.
Farmer-led: One Acre Fund works collaboratively with farmers to develop solutions for smallholder resilience. Our 7k+ staff engage with farmers through focus groups, mass annual household surveys, 'always on' customer hotlines in every country, and through our field staff themselves, the majority of whom are farmers from the communities where we work.
Elevate farmer voices: We are utilizing the insights of smallholder farmers to advocate for solutions at an international and national level, alongside thought leadership in the sector.

Fifty-two-year-old One Acre Fund field officer Alphonsine Nyiransabimana dreams of a thriving agricultural industry in Rwanda, where farmers can earn a decent living. She is working to fulfill this mission by helping farmers in her local community access credit and quality seeds so that they can increase their harvests and adapt to extreme weather.

One Acre Fund is focused on helping farmers adapt to rapidly changing conditions. Adaption is critical - hundreds of millions of people in Sub-Saharan Africa depend on agriculture to support their families.
One Acre Fund supports smallholder farmers to mitigate the impacts of changing conditions through on-farm tree planting and soil health practices that sequester carbon from the atmosphere.
