Since 2006, One Acre Fund has been driven by a single, powerful mission: to make farmers more prosperous. Nearly two decades later, that purpose continues to guide everything we do. We see it in farmers like 22-year-old John Manzo from Nigeria. When John first joined our program, he wanted to be able to farm well enough to provide for his young, growing family. Today, he is able to access the quality farming supplies he needs on time, which means he isn't just earning a reliable income, he can now start building a future of self-reliance. The hard work of farmers like John brings our mission to life every day.

Africa’s population is projected to grow to 2.5 billion by 2050, and the agricultural sector is set to be valued at $1 trillion by 2030. As food demand surges and pressures on agriculture intensify, the need to support smallholder farmers, the backbone of Africa’s agricultural economy, has never been more clear. At One Acre Fund, our mission to support smallholder farmers to grow more, earn more, and prosper feels more important than ever.

We have made great strides towards this. In 2024, One Acre Fund served over 5.5 million farmers, putting us halfway toward our goal of supporting 10 million farm families by 2030.

Our Rwanda program also surpassed a milestone with 1 million farmers served through our full-service program in 2024. This means that we are reaching nearly every smallholder household in the country. In Nigeria, our newest country program, we more than doubled our reach in just one year, growing from 125,900 to 304,000 farmers served.

In 2024, the farmers we served generated over $434 million in new profits and assets. For those enrolled in our full-service program, this meant an average $102 increase in annual profits — a reasonable sum for families who often live on less than $1 a day. For every $1 invested in our full-service program, farmers are generating $5.34 in new profits and assets, a 38% increase from 2023. This ensured that every donor dollar goes further, amplifying the impact we are able to create.

In addition to supporting farmers’ economic growth, we have placed a deep focus on farmer resilience. In 2024, the farmers we serve planted over 90 million trees, bringing our total number of trees planted since 2019 to 250 million. We are on track to meet our goal of planting 1 billion trees by 2030, working with smallholder farmers to adapt to the effects of unpredictable weather and support farmer resilience. Our agroforestry work also engaged 15,000 farmers across four countries to begin carbon pilots, connecting them to emerging carbon markets and helping to future-proof their farms.

We have also placed an emphasis on supporting women and youth, two key drivers of agricultural development. Through new leadership roles and data-driven insights, we are improving how we serve these vital groups, ensuring they have the resources they need to lead their communities forward.
